If I have excess fat around my thighs, how can I make sure that I get rid of the fat there rather than somewhere else?

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019

Answer: Sadly, you cannot. Where fat comes off of and when is not determined by what exercise you do, but genetics. The idea that working a certain muscle burns fat from that area is referred to as spot reducing, and it is a fitness myth that has no basis in reality. Consider this: pretty much everyone uses their legs everyday and often. If simply using a body part lead to leanness of that area then very few people would carry any fat on their legs. The solution is to do what is necessary to lose body fat: eat fewer calories than you burn. Maintaining this will lead to fat loss and if fat is not coming off of your thighs first, it will eventually. The key is not to give up and to find a program that allows you to maintain a lifestyle that ensures you continue to burn more calories in a day than you eat.
