Does craving salt mean an imbalance in my body?

On Wednesday, February 13, 2019
Not necessarily. There are a few instinctual, inborn cravings in humans, designed to help us when food availability was not as reliable as it is today. These include the taste for sweet, fat and salt. Salt cravings can sometimes be caused by a more serious underlying medical condition such as adrenal insufficiency (Addison's disease) and in rare instances salt craving is a symptom of a rare kidney disorder called Bartter syndrome. If the salt craving is new, persistent and excessive, seek medical advice to rule out any potential serious conditions.
