I have lost 60lbs already, but am finding it harder and harder to lose fat and not lean body mass. Help!

Question in full: What do you think of products such as Hydroxycut Hardcore? I have been on a weight loss program for 23 weeks now and have lost 60lbs already, but am finding it harder and harder to lose fat and not lean body mass.

Answer: It is quite common for those who are heavier to shed some lean body mass (LBM) when they first begin losing weight (it is considered normal to have 1/4 of weight lost come from LBM). Another factor to consider is the daily calorie deficit; the larger the daily deficit, the greater the LBM loss.  Deficits greater than 1000 calories a day will increase LBM losses, so try to avoid them (unless LBM loss is part of your goal). Follow the supplement and calorie recommendations of your dotFIT program and not only will you minimize the likelihood of LBM loss, but you just may add some of this fat burning tissue aka muscle.

Keep in mind that as your weight loss and fitness increase, you may find it harder to lose weight. This is normal in a part because the heavier and less fit you are, the more calories you burn so weight loss starts easy. As you get lighter and more fit, the same amount of calorie intake and output that got you started will have to be altered (lower intake and/or greater output) in order to continue to progress. Proper supplementation can definitely help during difficult times, and we’re suggesting our weight loss dotFIT products (these are also recommended in your Nutrition & Fitness Program – click on the Supplements tab for your complete, personalized recommendation). For a more detailed description of the products as well as the science behind specific ingredients, click the following links: Use of Supplements for Fat Loss.

The product you mention contains proprietary blends of green tea extract and caffeine, which is common in weight loss supplements and has been shown to be effective. The other ingredients, such as quebracho, lack positive evidence related to weight loss and safety. Stick to your dotFIT Nutrition & Fitness program recommendations and you have the greatest potential to comfortably achieve your goals.
